Small bites, music, champagne and fashion set the scene May 30 at Saks Fifth Avenue, Somerset Collection in Troy. The event, a joint effort between The Indian SCENE and Saks Fifth Avenue, raised $4,500 for Mai Family Services, which supports South Asian families and individuals in need of assistance (www.maifs.org).

Close to 200 guests joined. Sponsors Sheel Sohal of KW Domain and Dr. Chethana Gottam of Art of Dermatology were in attendance along with host committee members Nivita Beri, Leena Rao Gupta, Rani Jande, Nisha Mehta Raghava, Reeta Raina, Nisha Doshi Reddy, Rashmi Shah and Anuja Tolia Shah.

Music by Gagan DJ Vic set the background for the fashion show curated by stylist Sarah Johnson of Fete and Finery. Fusion looks were coordinated highlighting fabrics, prints and accessories.

Our heartfelt gratitute to Indian Scene team that helped raised funds for Maifs. As a founding member of this organisation (1986), I wish to express my sincere thanks to Lipsa Sheth and her team to stage such an event at Saks.

I am also thankful to Saks management Team to sponsor such a great fund raising team.

I read the names of many of our second generation. I can not mention every name that I read, but I am proud of their efforts to support a very worthy and needed social service.

Please encourage your friends to know more about the Mai Family Services and support its humanitarian services. We need more support as we expand into providing service to our seniors.

Thank you one and all for the first event at Saks. Hopefully, it will be an annual event at Saks.
