As I reflect on the Indian Scene’s 2019, I’m so pleased with what our contributors have put together this year. Among my favorite pieces we’ve published are a profile of the beloved NeeHee’s restaurant, a searing personal essay by high school senior Om Pattabhi, and the story of a local cricket team, playing in a former teammate’s memory. I also feel lucky to work with our expert columnists, including Rajeshri Gandhi Bhatia, who’s been answering every question an Indian-American parent could have about their child’s education, and Aparajita Jeedigunta, who deftly explores self-image and mental health.

We’re looking forward to bringing you another year of reported features, profiles, recipes and interviews with our community’s most stylish, accomplished, interesting members. With questions or feedback, please be in touch at editor@theindianscene.com. We’re also always considering pitches and submissions for reported pieces, cultural criticism and well-researched commentary relevant to metro-Detroit’s Indian-American community.
