It is springtime and the flowers are blooming, and that means the official start of the rosé season.  It is time to put on your rosé colored glasses and stock up on the seasons best pink wines. Nothing is more appealing and elegant than a rosé on a sunny spring day.  Rosé wines are having their moment and have become a way of life as the weather warms up.

Many of us like to drink rosé all year long but when spring arrives we can’t get enough of rosé wines. Here are three of my top picks.

Volage Sparkling AOC Crémant de Loire Rosé: This Single Vineyard Crémant de Loire Rosé is so luxurious and versatile.  Fresh strawberry and floral notes on the nose with juicy raspberry on the palate. This bubbly is refined and delicate, made from 100% Cabernet Franc.  There is a tasty minerality on the finish. Perfect for an elegant backyard gathering. This particular rosé bubbly is great as an aperitif but also pairs well with Indian cuisine.  It is perfectly delectable with chicken malai kebabs or vegetable samosas.

Fleurs de Prairie 2018: “Fleurs de Prairie” translates as “wildflowers,” celebrating the beautiful fields of wisteria, lavender, poppy, and sunflowers carpeting Provence. This is a traditional Provence style rosé with a light salmon hue. It has subtle notes of strawberries, rose petals and herbs.  A light, delicate, refreshing rosé that will pair great with summer salads or a mild chicken tikka masala.

Pasqua 11 MINUTES Rosé 2018: The delicate notes and elegance of this wine speaks of the exceptional terroir located in one of the most beautiful areas surrounding Lake Garda, Italy. This stunning rose is dominated by the noble native Corvina grape varietal.  The name 11 MINUTES refers to the duration of the skin contact, the pressing of the grapes.  In this optimal length of time they extract the most noble qualities of the grapes and obtain the slightly rosy shade. This is the perfect wine for entertaining. The wine’s beautiful floral aromas and bright acidity make it a perfect pairing with cheese, charcuterie, or tandoori paneer tikka.
