The race to be fully prepared for a four-year college or university is a long and grueling one. One option that can help is becoming a Dual Enrollment student at Schoolcraft College. This program, in most cases, allows students to primarily earn college credit in small and personal distance learning and/or traditional class settings, have one-on-one interactions with professors and save money.
Generally, the tuition and fees associated with dual enrollment are covered by the school district.
Benefits of being a Dual Enrollment student at Schoolcraft College:
- Earn college credits for little to potentially no cost
- The college credits you earn now could help you graduate early from your four-year school
- This saves money on housing, course fees, textbooks and more
- You can potentially start your career earlier
- Learn how to succeed in a college environment
- Study with dedicated, like-minded students
Neeraj Maheshwari, who was dual-enrolled from 2006-2010, took 13 courses, including chemistry, math and several humanities classes.
These credits provided an excellent foundation for Neeraj at the University of Cincinnati, where he completed his undergraduate degree and medical school studies.
“As a dual-enrolled student, I had the unique privilege of being able to thrive in two distinctly unique academic settings,” said Neeraj, now a second-year anesthesiology resident at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
“While I wouldn’t trade anything for the social interactions and extracurricular activities of high school, I feel so fortunate to have learned alongside and from a more independent and diverse group of peers while studying at Schoolcraft College.”
